nPosition Overview

nCentral Maine Healthcare is seeking an Endocrinologist to join its team serving the Central Maine region. The Endocrinologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with disorders of the endocrine system. The physician provides comprehensive care for patients with diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, obesity, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and other hormonal conditions. The Endocrinologist collaborates with primary care providers, specialists, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

nAbout Us

nCentral Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. CMMC also serves as the central Maine base for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.

nCMH also includes Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, two 25-bed critical access hospitals that provide essential care to Maine's rural communities.

nAs part of its commitment to healthcare education and workforce development, CMH is home to the Maine College of Health Professions, Maine's first nursing and medical imaging school. nResponsibilities

nClinical Care

nnnEvaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.

n

nnConduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.

n

nnDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans.

n

nnManage acute and chronic endocrine conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings as applicable.

n

nnOrder, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic test results.

n

nnPrescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.

n

nnProvide ongoing disease management and preventive care recommendations.

n

n nDiabetes Management

nnnDiagnose and manage Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.

n

nnOversee insulin therapy, insulin pump management, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems.

n

nnAddress diabetes-related complications and coordinate multidisciplinary care.

n

nnEducate patients on diabetes self-management, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modification.

n

n nSpecialty Endocrine Care

nnnDiagnose and treat thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer.

n

nnManage osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases.

n

nnEvaluate and treat adrenal, pituitary, and parathyroid disorders.

n

nnAssess and manage obesity and related metabolic conditions.

n

nnDiagnose and treat reproductive and hormonal disorders, including hypogonadism and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

n

nnManage lipid disorders and metabolic syndrome when appropriate.

n

n nCollaboration and Care Coordination

nnnCollaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, nephrologists, cardiologists, and other specialists.

n

nnSupervise and provide clinical guidance to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nursing staff, and ancillary personnel as applicable.

n

nnParticipate in multidisciplinary care conferences and case reviews.

n

nnCoordinate referrals and transitions of care.

n

n nDocumentation and Compliance

nnnMaintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

n

nnComplete consultation reports, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.

n

nnEnsure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.

n

nnParticipate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

n

n nQualifications

nnnMD or DO degree, with completion of an accredited Endocrinology fellowship.

n

nnBoard Certified/Board Eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism

nnJ1/H-1B visa candidates accepted

n nPay Transparency

nCentral Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $270,000 to $303,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
