Job description

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Engine Workshop Technician to join our Distribution business in (Houston, TX).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

Completes complex internal engine repairs

Performs engine overhauls unassisted

Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components

Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Perform engine disassembly,inspection,repair,assembly,andtestinginaccordancewithCumminsserviceproceduresandqualitystandards.

UtilizeQuickServe,servicedocumentation,anddiagnostictoolstotroubleshootandvalidaterepairs.

Verifycompletedrepairsthroughoperationaltestingandinspectionprocedures.

Accuratelydocumentrepairfindings,partsrequirements,laboroperations,andservicerecommendations.

Supportcontinuousimprovementinitiativesfocusedonsafety,quality,turnaroundtime,andproductivity.

Maintaincleanlinessandorganizationofworkareas,tooling,andshopequipmentinaccordancewith5Sprinciples.

AssistintrainingandmentoringLevel1techniciansandapprenticesbyprovidingtechnicalguidanceandsupport.

Identifyandcommunicateadditionalrepairopportunities,warrantyconcerns,andpotentialproductissuestoleadership.

Adheretoallcompanysafetypolicies,environmentalrequirements,andlockout/tagoutprocedures.

Supportinventorycontroleffortsbyproperlymanagingparts,cores,andreusablecomponentsduringrepairactivities.

Participateinrootcauseanalysisactivitiestoimproverepairqualityandreducerepeatfailures.

Supportovertime,weekendwork,andemergencycustomerrequirementsasbusinessneedsdictate.

Operateoverheadcranes,liftingdevices,forklifts,andspecializedequipmentinasafeandcompliantmanner.

Completerequiredtechnicaltrainingandmaintaincertificationsnecessaryforassignedwork.

Performotherdutiesandspecialassignmentsasdirectedbyworkshopleadership.

ServeasatechnicalresourceforLevel1techniciansonstandardenginerebuildandrepairprocedures.

Leadportionsofcomplexrepairactivitiesundertheguidanceofseniortechniciansorworkshopleadership.

Reviewrepairdocumentationforcompletenessandaccuracypriortojobclosure.

Assistsupervisorsinidentifyingworkflowimprovementsthatincreaselaborefficiencyandreducerework.

Support quality auditsandcontributetoachievingshopproductivityandcustomersatisfactiongoals.

This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

A current valid license is required for this role

Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience

This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
