Pay: $72,800 to $95,000/year Full Time Business Hours, 8am to 5pm Onsite
Service Metal is looking for a driven and curious industrial engineer who wants to make a real impact on warehouse operations. In this engineering role, you'll work directly with senior leadership to apply engineering principles to how our warehouses run: designing smarter processes, optimizing layouts and material flow, and solving real problems with data. You'll have the autonomy and project ownership to move quickly from engineering analysis to implementation.
This is a full time, onsite engineering position based at our Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, with up to 25% travel to Service Metal warehouse locations.
What You'll Do
Lead industrial engineering and continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, accuracy, and productivity across our warehouse network
Develop engineered standards and best practices across all warehouse locations to ensure consistency and scalability
Design and optimize warehouse layouts, material flow, slotting, and new facility plans
Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and process mapping to identify inefficiencies and reduce waste
Collaborate with Operations, IT, and cross functional teams to identify, test, and implement WMS, ERP, and automation improvements
Build data models and dashboards to measure warehouse performance and cost structure
Manage engineering projects from scope through execution
Engineer safety into every process improvement and operational change
What You Bring
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another engineering discipline
Experience applying Lean, continuous improvement, or process engineering methods
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to turn data into engineering recommendations
Advanced Excel skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and own projects
Preferred:
2+ years of experience in industrial engineering, distribution, or manufacturing environments
Experience with AutoCAD or other facility layout tools
Experience with WMS or ERP systems
