Equipment Operator1st Shift Monday–Friday (occasional weekends as needed)Alter Trading Corporation, a 127-year-old, privately held company operating over 70+ scrap metal processing facilities across 11 states. Our team is committed to safety, integrity, and operational excellence.Position SummaryWe are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support daily non-ferrous operations. This role involves operating forklifts, small loaders or skidsteers, managing the kiosk, and ensuring materials are sorted and processed according to quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate forklifts and other yard equipmentManually unload customer scrap metalPerform equipment inspections to ensure safe operationLoad, unload, and sort materialsInspect materials to meet quality standardsUnderstand and apply knowledge of material grades and acceptable loadsPerform basic equipment maintenanceFollow all safety protocols and wear required PPEPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsExperience operating forklifts or similar equipment preferredStrong attention to safety and detailAbility to work in an outdoor, industrial environmentKnowledge of scrap metal materials and grades is a plusWillingness to learn and take on new responsibilitiesWhy Join Alter?Competitive payMedical, dental, and vision insuranceCompany-paid disability insuranceHealth savings account (HSA) with company match401(k) with company matchPaid time off
