Equipment OperatorQualifications:High school diploma or equivalentPhysically and mentally competent to perform manual labor tasks, such as operating manpowered or motorized grass cutting equipmentCapable of understanding and carrying out oral or written instructions for skilled and unskilled dutiesExperience in operating complex equipmentValid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's licenseMust be insurable by the district insurance carrierPass drug screening test as outlined by district policyReports To:Site Care SupervisorEssential Functions:Performs routine grounds maintenance jobs involving a variety of skilled dutiesCuts lawn, using power mowers and tractors with single or three sectional rotary clippers or hand mowersOperates such equipment as end loader, tractor with grader blade to do landscaping and tract remodeling, parking lot repairsPicks up trash and debris from grounds, walks, parking lots, play areas, and athletic fields and hauls to dump sitePrunes shrubs and hedges to shape and enhance appearance of shrubsRakes and removes leaves and straw, cleans ditches, culverts, storm drains, gutters, and downspouts and hauls debris to dump siteSprays shrubs and trees with insecticide or herbicide when necessary and fertilizesWaters lawns, shrubs, and athletic fields during dry periods by hose or portable sprinkler systemOperates vehicles as neededPerforms other related duties as requested or assignedSalary Information:Days Employed: - 241 per school yearBeginning Salary: - $12.50-$24.50Exception: JPS employees should refer to the Classified Employee Pay Scale Rules of Administration and Implementation.
