Job description
ESL Basic Skills Instructor Class Description: Classes are designed for students who are at the literacy or beginning levels. Classroom environment is multi-level; students are pre-tested and instruction is based on their needs, levels and the Core ESL Content Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in any field, Education/TESL preferred.
1-year experience ESL teaching or tutoring preferred.
NOTE: Those without an Education/TESL degree and ESL experience are advised to take (ESL 380) Introduction to Teaching ESL, or complete the Introduction to Teaching Continuing Education Certificate Program offered at AACC.
Experience working with adult students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to teach multiple levels within the same classroom.
Strong organizational skills for managing and completing administrative paperwork.
Availability
Summer, fall and spring terms, days, evenings, and weekends; various locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
