Position Title: Estimator
Location: New York, NY
Status: Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Operations
Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for cast-in-place concrete and structural steel scopes on projects throughout New York City. This role requires a strong understanding of NYC construction practices, union labor, logistics constraints, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform quantity takeoffs for foundations, slabs, walls, columns, rebar, and occasionally structural steel.
Develop complete cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Review drawings, specifications, and addenda; identify scope gaps and risks.
Prepare competitive bid proposals and participate in bid strategy meetings.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
Assist project teams with budgets, Schedule of Values (SOV), and change orders.
Account for NYC logistics such as limited access, hoisting, and permitting.
Qualifications
3-10+ years of estimating experience in concrete and/or structural steel.
Strong knowledge of NYC construction means, methods, and union labor.
Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
Technical Skills
Estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Familiarity with Procore or Autodesk Build preferred.
