Job Summary and Qualifications

The Evans Freestanding ER Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the FSED RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The Evans Freestanding ER RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.

Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.

Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.

Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

(RN) Registered Nurse

Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Doctors Hospital of Augusta, part of HCA Healthcare, is a 350-bed hospital that provides a wide range of medical services. It is known for its 24/7 emergency care, Level II Trauma Center, Burn Center, advanced heart care, and Baby-Friendly maternity services. The hospital also offers surgery, women’s imaging, and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and it accepts most insurance plans. It is located at 3651 Wheeler Road in Augusta, Georgia.

The hospital provides 24/7 emergency care with a Level II Trauma Center and full stroke care, as well as a nationally recognized Burn Center that is one of the largest in the country and offers advanced wound care. In addition, the hospital supports maternity and women’s health with a Baby-Friendly designation, a Level II NICU, and a certified Women’s Diagnostic Center. The hospital also operates Doctors Hospital Evans Emergency, a freestanding emergency room that is open 24/7 and provides advanced imaging and lab services.

It is accredited by the American College of Radiology for radiation oncology services and by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program for bariatric surgery. Its inpatient rehabilitation facility is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in the Central Savannah River Area. The hospital’s laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, and its Center for Stroke Care is accredited by The Joint Commission. Its electroencephalogram (EEG) laboratory is accredited by the Laboratory Accreditation Board of ABRET.
