Job description
Floor TechnicianThe Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by performing floor care and general housekeeping duties. This role involves routine and project-based floor maintenance as well as support tasks such as waste removal and linen transport. The Floor Technician plays a key role in infection prevention and overall patient satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and periodic floor care, including:Buffing, burnishing, and polishing floorsScrubbing and refinishing hard floor surfacesMopping, sweeping, and vacuuming various floor typesOperate and maintain floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, wet vacuums, etc.)Collect and dispose of trash and regulated waste in accordance with hospital policiesTransport soiled linen and distribute clean linen as neededAssist with spill clean-up and emergency floor care situationsMaintain equipment in clean and working condition; report any malfunctionsFollow infection control procedures and safety standards at all timesSupport general EVS duties as needed, including cleaning patient rooms, hallways, and common areasEnsure proper use of cleaning chemicals and suppliesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious floor care or housekeeping experience preferred (especially in healthcare)Ability to operate floor machines or willingness to learnBasic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety proceduresSkills & AbilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong attention to detailGood time management and reliabilityAbility to follow directions and safety protocolsPhysical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs) for extended periodsWork EnvironmentFast-paced hospital environmentExposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluidsRequires flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays as neededThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
