Job TitleQUALIFICATIONS:High School GraduateCollege degree or 48 College Credits or WorkkeysKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIESAbility and skill to lift and place students comfortablySkill in accurately operating and adjusting the special equipmentAbility to learn and remember the bus routeAbility to understand the individual needs of exceptional studentsAbility to maintain positive working relationsAbility to understand and follow oral and/or written directionsAbility to lift on a regular basisDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist exceptional students in manipulating equipment they must use on the bus and entering and exiting the busSecure wheelchairs, seat belts, and other safety devices as necessaryRestrain students in Child Safety Restraint System as required by the IEP/504 PlanSeat students in their assigned locationStrategically ride in a location on the bus to optimize view of students in order to monitor behavior and provide assistance as necessaryDiffuse student conflict by utilizing approved training resourcesReport problems and concerns of students to the designated authorityAssist the bus driver when backing, etc.Assist the driver with the design and implementation of an evacuation planKnow the bus routeTake every initiative and be a team playerBe safe and on timeMaintain work schedule, as assigned by the supervisorObserve confidentiality of information about individual studentsOther duties as assigned by bus supervisor, principal and/or superintendentDisclaimerThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
