Job description

Lead a trusted organization. Transform lives. Shape the future.

The Kokomo Rescue Mission is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Director to lead a well established, Christ-centered nonprofit into its next season of growth and impact.

Located in Kokomo, Indiana, a growing industrial city and farming community in north central Indiana, the Mission is approximately one hour north of Indianapolis.

Founded in 1953, the Kokomo Rescue Mission has more than 70 years of history serving individuals and families that are homeless and hurting. Today, the organization operates with an annual budget exceeding $3.5 million, with approximately $1.8 million coming through direct community donations. This is a testament to the strong relationships and confidence the Mission has built throughout the community.

The Mission operates three homeless shelters, serving men, women, and women with children. In 2025, the Mission provided an average of 326 meals each day and served an average of 122 overnight guests each night.

The organization is also entering an exciting new chapter of community engagement. Its new Engagement Center expands the Mission’s reach beyond traditional shelter services by providing practical assistance, connecting individuals with community partners and resources, and offering showers and laundry facilities to the broader community.

The next Executive Director will have the opportunity to lead a respected organization with a strong foundation, committed staff, generous community support, and significant potential for continued growth.

This leader will help shape the Mission’s future while strengthening its ministry, expanding community partnerships, stewarding its resources, developing its team, and ensuring that the organization remains focused on its calling to serve the homeless and hurting.

For the right leader, this is more than an executive position. It is an opportunity to step into a 70+ year legacy, lead a growing nonprofit, build upon strong community relationships, and help shape the future of social services in Kokomo and beyond.

The Executive Director of the Kokomo Rescue Mission provides strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s vision, programs, and financial sustainability align with its mission. He or She oversees staff, fundraising efforts, and community relations while advocating for the Mission’s work and securing resources.
