About the Role
We’re expanding our team and are seeking a passionate and experienced Immigration Attorney (Removal Defense) to join our team and advocate for individuals facing some of the most challenging moments of their lives. This is an opportunity to litigate complex, high-impact cases, collaborate with a mission-driven legal team, and help build innovative systems that expand access to justice.
If you are a skilled advocate who thrives in the courtroom, approaches clients with empathy and professionalism, and is energized by meaningful work, we would love to hear from you.
While we have a preference for hybrid from San Diego or San Rafael (or with candidates open to relocating to these locations) we are also open to fully remote candidates willing to work a 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific Time schedule.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
Litigate, mentor, strategize, research, collaborate, and help shape the future of our legal team.
Qualifications
Are licensed in California and bring 3+ years of removal defense/asylum experience
Ideally have at least 1 year of habeas corpus litigation
Required Skills
Thrive in court and can independently manage complex cases
Communicate with clarity, empathy, and professionalism
Are energized by growth, innovation, and improving systems
Can support vulnerable clients through difficult conversations
Bring leadership experience or are ready to step into it
Professional language proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable
