Job description
The Melanoma/Sarcoma unit is a 25-bed medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 - 95. Six monitored beds are designated for melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma, cervical, ovarian, thoracic and pancreatic cancer patients receiving targeted cellular therapy requiring cardiac monitoring. Primary populations treated include: melanoma, sarcoma and GI patients receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens and all solid tumor cancer patients receiving immune effector cell therapy.
nnIdeal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in Oncology and/or a Medical Surgical Inpatient setting. *
n nShift will be 7pm - 7am and 26 out of 52 weekend shifts per year.

n nEssential Job Functions:
nFunction- Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.
nScope- Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
nAccountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
nnnCollaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
n
nnImproves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies.
n
nnDemonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards.
n
nnAccesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
n
nnAssures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
n
nnTrains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

nEDUCATION
nnnRequired: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
n
nnPreferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
n
n nWORK EXPERIENCE
nnnRequired: One year of Clinical RN experience.
n
nnPreferred: At least two years of Clinical RN experience.
n
n nLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

n n*OTHER REQUIREMENTS: *All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
