Overtime may be scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days, plus a $2.00/hour shift premium. Overtime may be scheduled at the end of the shift and on Fridays and Saturdays.Specific shift times and overtime requirements vary by position, department, and location.What You'll DoAs an Advanced Assembler, you'll perform skilled assembly work on complex components and systems used in the manufacturing of Pierce fire apparatus.Your responsibilities may include:Perform complex mechanical and component assembly using established specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructionsIndependently read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work ordersAssemble, install, align, and adjust parts, components, and subassembliesUse a variety of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring equipmentPerform drilling, sanding, grinding, buffing, fastening, clamping, gluing, and other assembly processesMeasure components and verify proper fit, alignment, and installationIdentify assembly issues and perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solvingInspect completed work to ensure it meets established quality and workmanship standardsRecognize incorrect, damaged, or nonconforming parts and escalate concerns appropriatelySafely operate cranes, hoists, and other equipment used to position componentsFollow established safety, quality, and manufacturing proceduresWork collaboratively with production, quality, engineering, materials, and other team members to resolve issuesShare technical knowledge and assist less-experienced team members as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentComplete required production documentation, work orders, and checklistsWork scheduled hours, maintain reliable attendance, and work overtime when requiredDepending on your assigned production area, you may also:Install and route electrical wiring, cables, and harnessesAssemble or install mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, electrical, or other vehicle systemsAccess digital blueprints, specifications, and work instructionsPerform functional testing of parts, components, or equipmentOperate forklifts or other material-handling equipmentAssist with training and onboarding team membersSupport other production areas based on business needsBasic Qualifications5 or more years of relevant hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, automotive, heavy equipment, mechanical, maintenance, skilled trades, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience using hand and power toolsExperience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, schematics, or technical work instructionsStrong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to perform skilled assembly workAbility to measure, align, fit, and assemble components accuratelyAbility to safely perform the physical requirements of the positionAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:Complex mechanical assemblyAutomotive, truck, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, recreational vehicle, or specialty vehicle manufacturingElectrical assembly, wiring, or harness installationHydraulic or plumbing systemsMechanical troubleshooting and repairFabrication or metalworkingPrecision measurement and quality inspectionLean manufacturing or continuous improvementTraining or mentoring less-experienced employeesTechnical education, apprenticeship experience, military technical experience, or other relevant skilled-trades training may also be valuable.What We're Looking ForSuccessful Advanced Assemblers bring more than years of experience.
