Used Car Reconditioning Technician / Automotive Technician - McGrath Volkswagen of Marion
Location: Marion, IA
Schedule: Full-Time | Four-Day Workweek
About the Opportunity
Love working on cars but looking for a change from traditional customer-pay service work? McGrath Volkswagen of Marion is looking for an experienced Used Car Reconditioning Technician to join our service team!
In this role, youll focus on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and preparing pre-owned vehicles for resale. From mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance to ensuring vehicles meet our dealerships safety and quality standards, your work will help get vehicles ready for their next owners.
If youre an experienced Automotive Technician, Used Car Technician, Auto Mechanic, or Vehicle Reconditioning Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys a variety of repair work, we want to hear from you!
What Youll Do
* Perform comprehensive inspections and evaluate used vehicles to identify mechanical, safety, and maintenance needs
* Diagnose and repair automotive systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and engine components
* Complete used vehicle reconditioning, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs to prepare vehicles for resale
* Identify and communicate recommended repairs, parts needs, and vehicle concerns to the appropriate team members
* Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining dealership safety, quality, and reconditioning standards
* Document inspections, repairs, and completed work accurately in dealership systems
* Work closely with the used car, service, and parts departments to keep vehicles moving through the reconditioning process
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly using tools and equipment
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years of professional automotive technician or mechanic experience required
* Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
* Experience performing automotive repairs, maintenance, and vehicle inspections
* Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle makes and models
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently, manage repair priorities, and meet reconditioning timelines
* Dependable, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
* Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
* Previous used vehicle reconditioning or dealership technician experience preferred
