Job description

Extrusion/Punch Technician IAs an Extrusion/Punch Technician I, you will support the safe, efficient operation of an Extrusion Machine or Punch Press to produce high-quality products. This entry-level position involves monitoring processes, conducting inspections, and performing routine maintenance tasks with supervision. The Technician I works closely with and learns from other team members, the production lead, and the Extrusion Supervisor to maintain product quality, resolve equipment issues, and ensure smooth production flow of either a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine.The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow work instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a positive attitude. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.Essential FunctionsHelp monitor process operations to ensure quality and efficiencyPerform detailed visual and dimensional inspectionsReport equipment issues to lead or supervisor as neededLearn to Troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and support resolutionPerform grinding tasks as required by production specificationsLearn work instructions including machine setup, materials, downstream needs, and packagingLearn to read work orders to determine Part # and materials.Learn to set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion MachineLearn complete tooling setup, cleaning, and storage of a Punch Press or Extrusion MachinePerform basic equipment maintenanceHousekeeping as neededOther duties as assignedSuccess in this Role RequiresAble to read and interpret shop ordersAble to follow detailed work instructionsAble to read and understand CAD drawings and blueprintsAble to set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and Auxiliary equipmentAble to troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion MachineMachine and support resolutionAble to read measurement tools such as a tape measure and caliperCompletely and accurately fills out production logs and QC checklistWhat You'll BringHigh School Diploma or GED2 years of related experience preferredAbility to read and interpret shop ordersForklift experience preferred and ability to obtain forklift certificationStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow detailed work instructionsExcellent attention to detailBasic mechanical and technical aptitudeBasic computer skillsAble to use and read measuring tools such as a tape measure and caliperPossess a can-do attitudePhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50lbs regularlyAbility to stand and walk for up to an 8-hour shiftAbility to wear appropriate PPE as required.
