Job description
Fabrication Technician in Meriden, CTExecute work orders to process and fabricate germanium and silicon-based crystals into functional radiation detection diodes. The role involves handling acids and other chemicals, as well as using and performing routine maintenance of evaporators, sputtering machines, and other systems.ResponsibilitiesFinal surface preparation of germanium crystals.Final surface preparation of silicon elements.Operate ion implanter and vacuum deposition equipment.Perform equipment maintenance.Test finished crystals.Troubleshoot process problems.Train junior technicians for processing when necessary.Essential SkillsManual dexterityMechanical aptitudeMachine operationSafety proceduresEtchingHandling hazardous wasteOperation of a drill pressAdditional Skills & QualificationsGood work ethicTeam-oriented mindsetScientific mindsetTechnology mindsetGood working with othersWork EnvironmentManufacturing facility with shop floors. There are opportunities for progression to a Level II Technician within 1-2 years based on performance, and potential for further advancement to a lead role focusing on troubleshooting.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
