Fabricator/WelderSafe Fleet a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for a Fabricator/Welder to work as part of a team fabricating, installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems.We are looking for a mechanical Fabricator/Welder. This full-time position is responsible for on premises tarp system fabricating, repair and installation for the trucking industry. The qualified candidate must be a high energy, physical individual with experience working on triaxle truck bodies and semi-trailers in a fast paced, labor intensive environment. This individual will need to be motivated by a competitive industry and be results, detail and team-oriented.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Fabricates steel and other metal parts as indicated by the work order and blueprints.Maneuver fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters to cut, grind, and adjust material.Sets up and operates gas welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts and verbal instructions.Regulates flow of gases for proper mixture.Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to weldingSet up and operates all phases of brazing applications using clamps, fixtures and torches working to specified tolerances.Selects proper fluxSets up and operates stick welding machines to repair, join or fabricate parts working with blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.Read a tape measure, use hand tools and semi automatic manufacturing equipment.COMPETENCIES:Must be detail oriented and eager to workMust be able to balance numerous tasks with efficiency tolerance for stress and resiliencyFlexibility while having a respect for adherence to processesQuick and accurate thinker…problem solver with a sense of urgencyMechanical aptitudeQUALIFICATIONS:Manual dexterityAble to learn on the flyDemonstrated ability to work professionally and productively with peers on production floorEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:High school education or equivalent1 year of welding experience preferredCertification preferred but not requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS:The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist, and talk or hear.WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Working environment is a climate-controlled manufacturing/warehouse facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
