Job TitleFacility Security SpecialistJob DescriptionSupport staff within the Homeland Security Division of the Marion County Sheriff's Office that will assist Deputies and members of the public with screening procedures and monitoring the facilities secured by the Marion County Sheriff's Office.Examples Of DutiesAssist with screening of members of the public and employees when entering facilityUtilize metal detector and/or hand wandRetain knowledge of items not permitted within facility and confiscate items when locatedMonitor all activity in the facility entryways and hallwaysVerify identity of personnel entering facility with identification cardsIdentify employee parking passesAssist with traffic control procedures within facility garage and/or parking areasCommunicate with deputies, co-workers, and supervising staff via radio communicationAssist with evacuation of facilities during emergencyAssist with various additional tasks as directed by the SheriffTypical QualificationsMust be 18 years of ageMust have High School Diploma or GEDMust successfully pass a complete background check, including but not limited to criminal history checkMust successfully complete required trainingMust be able to retain knowledge of policy and proceduresMust possess strong verbal communication skillsSupplemental InformationFacility Security Specialist will be monitored closely by supervisory staff
