Faculty Member - BC/BE Family Medicine (MD/DO)
The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program at Cheyenne seeks a BC/BE Family Medicine (MD or DO) for a full-time faculty position. Faculty responsibilities include resident supervision in inpatient and outpatient settings, didactic teaching, scholarly and administrative duties, and direct patient care. The program is based at the Educational Health Center of Wyoming (EHCW), and affiliated with Wyoming Medical Center, the state's central referral hospital. Practice Highlights: The Family Medicine Residency Programs include longstanding clinical centers in Casper and Cheyenne. These centers currently train 6-8 Resident Physicians per class, leading to board certification in Family Medicine. A third clinical site opened in Laramie in May 2017, and is currently funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). It is anticipated that the Laramie clinic will seek ACGME accreditation in a few years. All three clinical centers are designated as Federally Qualified Health Centers and must comply with the policies and regulations prescribed by HRSA. The Family Medicine Residency Program is administered by the University of Wyoming in collaboration with the Educational Health Center of Wyoming (EHCW) Board.
Community Highlights: Cheyenne is located in the southeast corner of Wyoming, about 10 miles from the Wyoming/Colorado border. With a city population of 53,000 and county population of about 80,000, Cheyenne provides all of the benefits of a small town with many of the amenities of larger communities. Within a 50 mile radius of Cheyenne are camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, hunting and biking opportunities. In Cheyenne there are city parks, a biking/walking greenway that spans the whole community, golf, tennis and many family recreational experiences. For the cultural lover, there is a local symphony, many art galleries, and a community theatre. Cheyenne is also the home of "The Daddy of Them All", Frontier Days – the premier rodeo in the nation. For those who want the "big city experience", Denver, CO, the cultural center of the Rocky Mountain Region, is an easy 90 minute drive away.
Other: Applicant must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Applicants with teaching experience and/or rural practice experience are preferred. OB experience is a plus.
