AFC Urgent Care Temple, serving the Austin, Texas metropolitan area, is a walk-in clinic focused on non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries for patients of all ages. Open seven days a week, the clinic provides a broad range of services, including testing for flu, COVID-19, strep, RSV, UTIs, STDs, and more. Additional offerings include pediatrics, physicals, X-ray imaging, workplace injury care, and DOT physicals to support individuals and families. The medical team is committed to high-quality, patient-centered care and overall well-being in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Role Description
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Physician Assistant (PA) is a full-time, This role involves independently evaluating and treating patients with non–life-threatening conditions, including common illnesses, minor injuries, and occupational health concerns. Daily responsibilities include obtaining histories, performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The FNP/PA will provide pediatric and adult care, conduct physicals (including DOT physicals), and collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow. Additional tasks include documenting visits in the electronic medical record, providing patient education, maintaining regulatory and quality standards, and participating in clinic operations as needed.
Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency in advanced practice roles, including experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with appropriate national certification and licensure.
Strong clinical foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to perform comprehensive assessments and develop safe, effective treatment plans for diverse patient populations.
Current state license (Texas) as an FNP or PA, DEA registration or eligibility, and BLS/ACLS certification.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and deliver inclusive, culturally sensitive care.
Strong organizational skills, adaptability in a fast-paced setting, and proficiency with electronic medical records.
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as part of a clinic schedule; prior experience in urgent care, family practice, or pediatric care is preferred.
