Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) Veteran C&P Examiner Location: Within 25 Miles of Abilene, TX
Schedule: 1 Days per Week
Compensation: $600- $700/day
Position Overview We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) disability examinations for U.S. military Veterans in the Abilene, TX area. This is a part-time, 1-day-per-week opportunity focused solely on conducting disability evaluations for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). There is no treatment, prescribing, or follow-up care , allowing providers to focus on objective medical assessments in a structured outpatient setting. VA disability exams are used to evaluate Veterans' claimed conditions and are completed using standardized Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
Responsibilities Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans.
Review medical records and service history prior to each evaluation.
Perform focused physical examinations and complete VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
Accurately document objective medical findings in accordance with VA standards.
Complete timely electronic documentation.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient exam workflow.
Qualifications Active, unrestricted Oregon NP or PA license.
Current national board certification.
Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.
Previous C&P, disability evaluation, occupational medicine, or primary care experience is preferred but not required.
