Job description

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for ongoing nocturnist coverage in Chester, South Carolina, beginning January 2027. This opportunity specifically allows Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine experience to be considered.

Practice Setting

82-bed acute care hospital

13-bed Emergency Department

Approximately 15,000 ED visits annually

Approximately 7% admission rate

Approximately 1.8 2.0 patients per hour

Emergency Department recognized as a Pediatric Ready hospital

Daily APP coverage

Epic EMR with DAX AI Scribe available

Schedule

Nocturnist/night coverage

Physician shifts within the broader Emergency Medicine program include 10- and 12-hour shifts

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide Emergency Medicine coverage

Evaluate and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department

Work alongside APP and hospital-based physician support

Manage a variety of emergency and acute-care presentations

Clinical Support

Specialty and hospital-based support within the division includes:

Anesthesia

OB/GYN

General Surgery

Urology

Gastroenterology

Orthopedics

ENT

Tele-Neurology

Tele-Psychiatry

Hospitalists and Intensivists

Requirements

MD or DO

Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine experience will be considered

Must be comfortable working nights

Recent Epic experience/proficiency within the last year required no exceptions

South Carolina medical licensure required for practice

Ideal Candidate

An experienced Emergency Medicine physician or Family Medicine/Internal Medicine physician with substantial Emergency Medicine experience who is comfortable providing nocturnist coverage and has recent Epic proficiency. This opportunity offers manageable ED volume with APP, specialty, hospitalist, and intensivist support.
