Job description
We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians for ongoing locum coverage in Alabama beginning January 2027. The primary need is for night-shift coverage, with two physician FTEs currently requested.

Schedule
12-hour physician shifts
Day: 6:00 AM 6:00 PM
Night: 6:00 PM 6:00 AM

No call
Practice Setting
Emergency Department
Approximately 25,000 ED visits annually
Approximately 10% EMS arrivals
Approximately 7% admission rate
Approximately 3% transfer rate
Epic EMR
Coverage & Support
24-hour physician coverage
24-hour NP/PA coverage
Cardiology available
OB/GYN available
Surgery support available
Requirements
MD or DO
Active, unrestricted Alabama medical license
DEA and CDS with Alabama address
DEA authority for Schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV and V
Emergency Medicine Board Certification preferred
Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physicians may also be considered
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience
ACLS, PALS and ATLS required
Credentialing
Approximately 90 days
Ideal Candidate
An experienced Emergency Medicine physician with an active Alabama license who is available for consistent 6 PM 6 AM night coverage. EM Board Certification is preferred, although qualified IM or FM physicians with at least one year of Emergency Department experience may be considered.
