Job Opportunity At Guardian Light Family Services

Guardian Light Family Services (GLFS) is dedicated to strengthening families and helping children thrive by providing compassionate, hands-on support every day. Our mission is to empower families to create safe, nurturing environments where everyone can reach their full potential. We believe our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to fostering a workplace where every team member feels supported, respected, and inspired to grow. At GLFS, you'll find a collaborative environment, opportunities for professional development, and a shared passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of families across Nebraska.

Our team is passionate about making a difference—one family at a time. We use our knowledge, resources, and teaching skills to influence positive change and build healthier communities across Nebraska.

From your first week, you'll be paired with a direct supervisor & mentor who will help you navigate your new role, answer questions, and support your ongoing development.

Key responsibilities include:

Guiding and mentoring families, acting as a bridge to community resources, services, and support networks

Providing one-on-one skill teaching and coaching to parents and caregivers

Supervising parenting time (visitation) and, when needed, facilitating drug testing services as part of family support plans

Transporting children to supervised visits with their parents (GLFS provides car seats as needed)

Maintaining autonomy and a flexible schedule while meeting assigned case hours

Attending weekly meetings and training with your supervisor, as well as monthly agency-wide training

Participating in 40+ hours of paid/invested initial training (including job shadows and supervisor support), with continuing education and professional development opportunities throughout your tenure

Work schedule: All positions start as part-time, with the opportunity to scaffold to consistent full-time work based on performance and agency needs.

Compensation & benefits: $20–22/hour, plus an additional $3/hour differential for weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays). Mileage reimbursement for client-related travel. 40+ hours of paid/invested initial training (including job shadows and supervisor support), with continuing education and professional development opportunities throughout your tenure.

Full-time benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Paid time off and paid holidays. All staff benefits: Tuition reimbursement. Employee Assistance Program. Paid sick leave. MASA (Medical Transport Ambulance Insurance). Supplemental insurance options. Generous referral bonuses. Mentorship program for ongoing guidance and support.

Job requirements: At least 2 years of experience supporting or mentoring others—this can include paid work, volunteer roles, or lived experience in your community or family. A degree in human services is valued but not required. Highly self-motivated, with a passion for empowering others and a clear understanding that humans need guidance and support to thrive. Timely and professional communication. Ability to build trust and rapport with families. Reliable personal vehicle for frequent travel/transport (GLFS provides car seats as needed). Valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance. Background checks will be required.

Guardian Light Family Services was founded in 2016. Our team members have supported Nebraska families for 10 years, helping thousands of children and caregivers thrive.
