About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Farm Manager to oversee all aspects of their agricultural operations in the scenic region near Paarl . This role involves managing crop cultivation, livestock, staff, and ensuring the overall productivity and profitability of the farm. You will be responsible for planning planting and harvesting schedules, managing resources, implementing best practices in agriculture, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of agricultural science, strong leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day farm activities in the Western Cape .
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute planting, cultivation, irrigation, and harvesting schedules for various crops.
Oversee livestock management, including feeding, health monitoring, and breeding programs if applicable.
Manage farm labor, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of seasonal workers.
Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure, ensuring they are in good working order.
Manage farm finances, including budgeting, cost control, and record-keeping for yields and expenses.
Implement sustainable farming practices and ensure compliance with relevant agricultural and environmental regulations.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Farm Management or a similar agricultural leadership role.
Strong knowledge of crop production, soil management, pest control, and irrigation techniques.
Experience with farm machinery operation and maintenance.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage budgets and maintain accurate farm records.
