Job description
The mission of the client service delivery team at SMX is to create and deploy innovative products to our federal customers. The CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend (BAS) solution is a planning and reporting solution that has been pre-built for the federal government and runs on SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
nThis is a unique and exciting role that allows the right candidate to use their deep understanding of federal budgeting and planning processes to help build our next generation planning application. We are looking for an energetic and creative federal financial business analyst to take our solution to the next level and drive value for our federal customers. You will be working alongside a talented team of designers, developers and budget SMEs to help build, enhance, and roll out our best-in-class solution. This is a full-time position that is 100% remote and will require minimal travel Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
nAs a Federal Financial Business Analyst, you will work at the intersection of financial management, business processes, data analytics, and technology. You will partner directly with government stakeholders to analyze complex financial and operational data, improve business processes, develop actionable insights, and support strategic decision-making through data-driven solutions.
nThis role is ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, translating data into compelling stories, and helping federal organizations optimize financial and operational performance.
nnnDevelop a deep understanding of client business objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
n
nnAnalyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and organizational decision-making needs.
n
nnFacilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities.
n
nnRecommend process, technology, and data solutions that enhance operational efficiency and financial outcomes.
n
nnReview policies, system data structures, and operational procedures to assess impacts on business and financial processes.
n
nnUtilize business intelligence and analytics tools to maximize the value of client data assets.
n
nnGuide clients in adopting solutions that improve operational effectiveness, reporting capabilities, and financial performance.
n
nnCollaborate across interdisciplinary teams to ensure business, data, and technology requirements are aligned and delivered successfully.
n
nnCreate quality documentation across all phases of SDLC (RTM, FDD, Design Documents, end user documentation, training guides, online help, etc.)
n
nnDevelop test plans, business use cases, and manage test execution.
n
n nRequired Skills & Experience:
nnnBachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
n
nn5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
n
nnFederal financial management
n
nnBusiness process analysis or management
n
nnData analytics and reporting
n
nnManagement or technology consulting
n
nnOperations analysis or strategic planning
n
nnExperience working with federal government financial data and processes.
n
nnExperience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
n
nnStrong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
n
nnStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
n
nnExcellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
nnAbility to explain complex concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
n
nnDemonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing consulting environment.
n
nnProficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
n
nnExcellent communication and presentation skills.
n
nnPublic Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

n nDesired Skills & Experience
nnnExperience with deploying a financial planning and/or Business Intelligence application.
n
nnExperience with off the shelf BI/Reporting tool (i.e SAP SAC, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik).
n
nnExperience testing applications.
n
nnExperience developing or modifying business and data models.
n
nnBackground in enterprise solution implementations.

nThe SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications. nThe proposed salary for this position is:
n$96,400-$160,600 USD
