Job Overview
A law firm seeks a mid to senior level associate in Seattle to join its FERC regulatory practice. The associate will support a nationally recognized practice advising electric and natural gas utilities, developers of energy infrastructure, and data center clients. The role involves approximately 80% FERC regulatory work, with the remainder supporting data center-related and energy transactional matters.
Duties
Advise clients on matters under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act.
Represent utilities and developers before FERC in regulatory proceedings.
Support matters involving electric transmission rates and incentives.
Assist with interconnection and large-load issues, including data centers.
Engage in wholesale energy markets and natural gas pipeline certification.
Conduct legal research, draft filings, and manage agency interactions.
Collaborate on infrastructure, regulatory, and energy-transition matters.
Requirements
JD from an accredited law school.
Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
3-6 years of relevant experience.
Experience with FERC regulatory matters.
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Experience in a large law firm or government setting.
Familiarity with electric and/or natural gas regulatory work.
Interest in regulation, infrastructure investment, and emerging energy demands.
Education
JD from an accredited law school.
Certifications
Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
Skills
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Experience with FERC regulatory matters.
Familiarity with interconnection or energy infrastructure development.
