Job description

Field Supervisor - Special InspectionsWe are seeking a Field Supervisor – Special Inspections to provide day-to-day leadership and support to our special inspection team while performing billable inspection assignments. This role works closely with the Field Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Dispatch to coordinate inspection coverage, maintain technical quality, support inspectors, and ensure assignments are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved documents and applicable requirements.The Field Supervisor will serve as a resource and first point of contact for inspectors, providing technical coaching, monitoring documentation, coordinating assignments, and helping resolve routine field issues.What You'll DoPerform special inspections within your current certifications and areas of demonstrated competence.Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to assigned special inspectors.Coordinate with Dispatch, Project Managers, and the Field Operations Manager to assign appropriately qualified inspectors based on project scope, certifications, jurisdictional requirements, schedule, and location.Review project requirements, approved plans, specifications, and reporting expectations with inspectors as needed.Confirm inspectors have the required certifications, documents, equipment, forms, site contacts, and PPE for their assignments.Review inspection reports, photographs, time entries, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.Conduct field check-ins and quality observations to evaluate performance, reinforce consistent practices, and provide technical guidance.Communicate with Project Managers regarding inspection status, nonconforming work, schedule changes, access issues, and matters requiring additional direction.Ensure inspectors appropriately document and communicate observed deviations while remaining within their assigned scope and authority.Support onboarding, training, certification planning, and development of special inspectors.Participate in quality-control and safety meetings and reinforce applicable procedures, code requirements, ethics, and company policies.Address routine employee and field issues and escalate safety, client, personnel, technical, or jurisdictional concerns when appropriate.Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure documentation is uploaded through required project systems.Promote a culture of safety, integrity, technical quality, professionalism, teamwork, and excellent client service.What You'll BringHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field preferred.5+ years of special inspection or closely related construction inspection experience preferred.Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.Current ICC or other certifications applicable to assigned inspection disciplines.Strong knowledge of approved construction documents, applicable codes and standards, special inspection procedures, and documentation requirements.Understanding of the inspector's scope of authority and when professional or jurisdictional direction is required.Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, judgment, integrity, and interpersonal skills.Ability to coach and develop employees, prioritize work, resolve routine issues, and recognize when concerns require escalation.Ability to work effectively with inspectors, Dispatch, Project Managers, laboratory staff, contractors, design professionals, clients, and authorities having jurisdiction.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn inspection reporting, scheduling, timekeeping, and project-management systems.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Why Join Us?This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced special inspector who wants to continue performing inspections while helping develop and support a team.
