Field Support Specialist

Manvel, TX (with travel)

Duration: initial 6-month contract (w2, not eligible for C2C)

Pay: $34-39/hr

The Field Support Specialist will provide hands-on IT support, technical coordination, and project support for infrastructure initiatives across corporate and field locations. This role serves as the primary IT point of contact for an assigned site, taking ownership of technical issues, coordinating escalations, troubleshooting root causes, and ensuring timely resolution.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a field environment, supporting end users directly, and traveling regularly to multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees and stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Provide second-level desktop support for company hardware, software, desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

Serve as the primary IT point of contact for assigned sites and coordinate appropriate escalations when needed.

Troubleshoot Windows 10/11 operating systems, standard business applications, hardware, peripherals, and connectivity issues.

Support IT initiatives, hardware/software upgrades, new equipment deployments, product testing, and special projects.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and multifunction devices.

Support LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, routers, switches, and other site-level infrastructure.

Maintain accurate PC, hardware, accessory, and IT asset inventories for assigned locations.

Respond to service requests through phone, email, and IT service management systems.

Follow up with end users to ensure issues are fully and satisfactorily resolved.

Document service calls, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and asset information in the appropriate tracking systems.

Update and maintain IT knowledge-base documentation.

Provide end-user training and guidance on IT equipment, applications, and services.

Prioritize and manage a high volume of service requests while maintaining responsive customer service.

Work with other IT teams to implement infrastructure changes and resolve complex technical issues.

Maintain ongoing technical knowledge through training and professional development.

Provide after-hours support as needed and maintain a flexible schedule.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of relevant IT support experience; experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related technology field preferred, or equivalent education and experience.

Strong experience supporting PCs, LAN/WAN environments, wireless networks, site-to-site VPNs, and web-based applications.

Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and standard business applications.

Knowledge of Windows Server 2019, Cisco routers, and Cisco switches.

Experience configuring and supporting iOS and Android mobile devices, air cards, and related equipment.

Experience installing and troubleshooting HP LaserJet and multifunction printers.

Experience with ITSM platforms; BMC Remedy experience is preferred.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize competing requests in a fast-paced environment.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs.

HDI Desktop Field Support Technician

Comparable IT support certifications

Travel & Schedule

Up to 80% travel for daily site visits, with occasional overnight travel.

Routine travel may extend approximately 100 miles from the assigned area, with occasional longer-distance travel.

Reliable personal vehicle required; mileage is reimbursed.

Excellent driving record required, with no major violations within the past three years.

Flexible schedule with occasional after-hours support as needed.
