nJob Title: Figure Skating Instructor
nReports To: Figure Skating Coordinator
nLegends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Figure Skating Instructor at the Morgan Park Sports Center. The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for assisting and/or running skating lessons at the Morgan Park Sports Center.
nESSENTIAL DUTIES
nnnProvide instruction to youth (ages 3 and up) and adults.
n
nnDemonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques, and movement methods to help students achieve proficiency in the sport.
n
nnExplain and enforce safety guidelines, rules, and regulations.
n
nnMaintain accurate records and assist in coordinating events.
n
nnKeep management and parents informed of activities, student progress, and any issues as they arise.
n
n nRESPONSIBILITIES
nThe position requires the ability to:
nnnArrive prepared and on time for all classes and sessions.
n
nnRecord daily attendance for each class.
n
nnInstruct students in all elements appropriate to their class level, ensuring each student receives sufficient practice to feel prepared for evaluation.
n
nnEvaluate students on testing days and complete all required program forms.
n
nnInput evaluated student levels into the computer registration system.
n
nnEncourage and reinforce appropriate behavior among students.
n
nnModel professional behavior by:
n
nnRespecting facilities, patrons, and staff.
n
nnRefraining from negative speech about patrons, instructors, or volunteers.
n
nnUsing professional and appropriate language in all coaching and patron interactions.
n
nnMaintaining a clean, tidy, and professional appearance.
n
nnAttend at least one continuing education seminar per year in any skating discipline.
n
nnAttend all Figure Skating staff meetings as scheduled by the Skating Coordinator.
n
nnAssist the Skating Coordinator with delegated duties.
n
nnNotify the Skating Coordinator and management promptly regarding absences, and arrange for suitable substitutes when necessary.
n
nnComplete other tasks as assigned.
n
n nEXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
nnn3+ years previous coaching experience preferred
n
nn5+ years competitive skating experience preferred
n
nnKnowledge of the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills program
n
nnKnowledge of generally accepted coaching techniques
n
nnSkill in organizing large groups of skaters (youth or mixed ages)
n
nnAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other instructors and management
n
nnMust like working with children
n
nnReliable and responsible, with maturity and sound judgment
n
nnEnergy, assertiveness, innovation, creativity, and willingness to try new approaches and techniques
n
n nQUALIFICATIONS
nMust have passed USFS Freeskate 6, or equivalent, must (can still be a full member of U.S. Figure Skating via their home club). Required to become SafeSport compliant within 3 months of start date.
nHours: This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Able to work specifically on Sundays.
nHOURLY RATE: $18.50
