Job description
We are looking to bring on a full-time consultant in the DC area to support the ongoing needs of our client.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Process Assessment & Optimization: Evaluate the current-state finance organization, workflows, controls, and technology across Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C), Treasury, Record-to-Report/Close, and Financial & Management Reporting . Identify process gaps, manual workarounds, control weaknesses, and opportunities for standardization and automation.
Finance Systems & Technology Strategy: Assess the existing finance technology stack and recommend systems, tools, and integrations that improve scalability, data integrity, reporting, and operational efficiency. Help define future-state requirements and develop a practical technology roadmap.
Process Design & Automation: Design streamlined, scalable finance processes that reduce reliance on spreadsheets and manual workflows. Establish standardized procedures, approval structures, controls, and reporting processes to support continued organizational growth.
Systems Selection & Implementation: Lead or support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new finance and accounting systems, including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, system configuration, data migration, testing/UAT, and go-live readiness.
Legacy System Transformation: Help transition the organization from QuickBooks and highly manual processes toward a more sophisticated, integrated finance environment capable of supporting increased transaction volume, reporting requirements, and organizational complexity.
Project & Change Management: Develop and manage transformation workplans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables. Coordinate across finance, accounting, operations, IT, and other business functions to keep initiatives on schedule.
Training & Adoption: Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials while helping finance and operational teams successfully adopt new systems and processes.
Executive Communication: Present assessments, recommendations, implementation plans, project status, risks, and key decisions to CFO and executive leadership , translating complex finance and technology issues into clear business recommendations.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external software vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and other third parties throughout the transformation.
Continuous Improvement: Establish processes and performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of transformation initiatives and identify additional opportunities for automation, efficiency, scalability, and improved financial visibility.
Requirements
7-10+ years of experience across finance transformation, accounting/finance operations, process improvement, systems implementation, and/or technology enablement.
Demonstrated experience leading transformation initiatives across multiple finance processes, including P2P, O2C, Treasury, Record-to-Report/Close, and Financial Reporting .
Strong track record of assessing current-state finance environments and designing practical future-state operating models, workflows, and technology solutions .
Experience helping organizations transition from QuickBooks, spreadsheets, and manual processes to scalable ERP, accounting, reporting, and automation platforms .
Hands‑on experience with ERP/system selection and implementation , including requirements gathering, process mapping, data migration, UAT/testing, training, and change management.
Strong understanding of accounting processes, internal controls, financial reporting, and the interaction between finance systems and operational workflows.
Ability to manage complex, cross‑functional projects involving Finance, Accounting, Operations, IT, and external implementation partners .
Excellent executive‑level communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings, recommendations, risks, and implementation priorities.
Highly organized and capable of balancing strategic transformation planning with hands‑on execution in a fast‑moving environment.
Experience working within professional services or other service‑based organizations strongly preferred.
Experience supporting a rapidly growing or evolving organization and building finance infrastructure capable of scaling with the business is preferred.
Washington, DC metro‑area presence with the ability to work collaboratively with leadership and key stakeholders as required.
