Job description
Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Counselor will play a crucial role in helping students and their families understand and access financial aid resources. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of financial aid programs, and the ability to provide personalized assistance to students.
nnPrimary roles and responsibilities:
nnProvide excellent customer service to students, parents, and colleagues.
nProvide one-on-one financial aid counseling to students and families.
nEvaluate and verify financial aid documents, including income tax returns and verification worksheets.
nDetermine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid programs.
nPackage financial aid awards for eligible students based on established guidelines and available funding.
nComplete verification and process professional judgement requests.
nProcess withdrawals and R2T4 calculations.
nMaintain accurate and confidential student financial aid records.
nEnter financial aid data accurately into the student information system.
nRespond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits promptly and professionally. Resolve student financial aid issues and concerns.
nGenerate reports and analyze data to assist in decision-making processes.
nStay informed about changes in financial aid regulations and policies.
nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations.
nConduct financial aid workshops and presentations for prospective and current students.
nServe as a resource for students, parents, and school counselors on financial aid matters.
nAssist with the development and distribution of financial aid-related materials.
n nnQualifications :
nnBachelor's degree or related experience/training.
nKnowledge of federal and state financial aid programs.
nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.
nAbility to explain complex financial aid concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
nAttention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
nExcellent customer service orientation and a commitment to helping students succeed.
nProficiency in computer applications and data entry.
nPositive work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
