Job description
OVERVIEW:
nThe purpose of the Financial Aid Officer is to guide students through the financial aid process and ensure they are properly funded. The Financial Aid Officer coordinates with admissions and academics to keep the students engaged and on-track.
BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS:
nThe role of Financial Aid Officer is to ensure that students are properly funded, packaged, and prepared to start each semester. This is accomplished by making sure that:
nnStudents are made aware of all available funding options
nStudents are properly vetted and appropriately packaged
nFunds are posted in a timely manner
n ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
nConducting Initial Overview with Student:
nnProvide basic overview of financial aid process
nAssist with filling out FAFSA form
nExplain forms and direct to web-sites for additional information
nProvide checklist of documentation needed for second appointment
nProvide Federal guide (requirement)
n Conducting Financial Aid Review with Student:
nnProvide information and assess student financing needs
nReview FAFSA for Title IV eligibility
nCounsel on financial aid eligibility and financing options
nCheck Veteran's Affairs verifications/GI Bill
nDiscuss grants and scholarships
nReview registration schedule
nCreate cost estimate and review with studentnnBreakdown expenses and fees
nDiscuss any balance and additional private financing options
nWhere applicable - review "parent for loan" option

nAcquire necessary documents from lenders
nProvide necessary documents to lenders
nEnter student data into system
nSet-up student financing package
n Reviewing and Following-up on Initial Packaging:
nnReview ISIR
nReview any C-flags or H-flags
nIf selected for Federal verification, get verification documents
nFollow-up on private loan approvals
nScan to DRS
nSubmit to Director of Financial Aid for review and processing
nWork with Bursar to post cash payments
n Monitoring and Tracking Financial Aid Packages:
nnReview monthly start date reports
nReview monthly account balance reportsnnInvestigate account balance issues
nMonitor for potential defaults
nFollow-up on potential and actual defaults

nTrack Sally Mae, government/private scholarship, grant, and private loan postings
nTrack drops and academic dismissals
nRe-package continuing students
n Preparing Graduating and Exiting Students (graduating, dropped, and dismissed students):
nnConduct exit interviews
nDiscuss payment responsibility
nDiscuss loan consolidation
nClear balance with Southeastern College
n PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
nThe physical demands are those required in a professional office setting: sitting, working on a computer, using a telephone, communicating with coworkers and getting to and from appropriate campuses.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
nProfessional office setting: moderate noise levels and controlled indoor climate.

LOCATION:
nThis position is an onsite position located at your campus unless otherwise determined by the Chancellor and/or designee. Any changes must be reviewed by the Campus President/Vice President and all final approvals must come from the Chancellor and/or designee.
