nHelp Patients Find Financial Support
nJoin R1 as a Financial Counselor and help uninsured and underinsured patients understand their coverage and financial assistance options. In this on-site role, you will regularly travel between multiple hospital floors to meet with patients in their rooms, screen for potential eligibility, assist with applications, and explain financial responsibilities with clarity and compassion.
nWhat You’ll Do
nnnTravel between multiple hospital floors and visit uninsured and underinsured patients in their rooms to review their financial needs and available resources.
n
nnScreen for potential eligibility for Medicaid, Marketplace coverage, hospital financial assistance, and other programs.
n
nnHelp patients complete applications and gather required documents.
n
nnClearly explain coverage options, application steps, and next steps.
n
nnDiscuss estimated patient responsibility and available payment options, and support collection of amounts due in a respectful, patient-centered manner.
n
nnTrack application status, follow up on missing information, and document activity accurately.
n
nnProtect patient privacy and work closely with clinical, Patient Access, and revenue cycle teams.
n
nnBalance compassionate service, accuracy, and productivity in a fast-paced hospital setting.

n nWhat You’ll Bring
nRequired Qualifications
nnnHigh school diploma or GED.
n
nnStrong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
n
nnCompassion and professionalism when discussing sensitive personal and financial information.
n
nnAbility to explain complex information in clear, simple language.
n
nnStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple systems and priorities.
n
nnAbility to navigate and work efficiently across multiple systems with ease.
n
nnAbility to work on-site, move regularly between multiple hospital floors, and meet with patients in their rooms throughout the day.

n nPreferred Qualifications
nnnExperience in financial counseling, eligibility, Patient Access, registration, patient financial services, or revenue cycle.
n
nnKnowledge of Medicaid, Marketplace coverage, hospital financial assistance, or similar programs.
n
nnExperience completing eligibility screenings, applications, or supporting documentation.
n

n nWork Environment
nThis is an on-site, patient-facing hospital role that requires regular travel between multiple floors and in-person visits with patients in their rooms. You may work around illnesses or injuries, support patients during stressful situations, and spend much of the day moving throughout the facility.

nFor this US-based position, the base pay range is $16.48 - $23.13 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
