nInsight Global is looking for a Financial Counselor to support patient admissions and financial operations within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This individual will play a key role in guiding patients and families through the financial aspects of care, including insurance verification, eligibility screening, and payment planning.

nThis role supports daily admissions driven by referrals from multiple emergency departments, with patient volume typically ranging from 5–20 cases per day. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic setting, engaging directly with patients, and managing both administrative and financial responsibilities.

nKey Responsibilities

nParticipate in the admissions process, including responding to inquiries related to services, insurance, and financial obligations

nPerform insurance verification and eligibility screenings across various payer types

nProvide financial counseling to patients and families related to self-pay, co-pays, and outstanding balances

nReview applications and patient data for accuracy, completeness, and quality

nCollect and document all patient demographic and financial information

nPrepare and present daily financial counseling reports prior to team meetings

nAssess patient financial needs and refer to appropriate assistance programs (e.g., Medicare, Medi-Cal, Covered CA)

nCoordinate and collect patient payments, including in-person collections and follow-ups

nConduct daily patient follow-up for outstanding balances and financial needs

nMaintain knowledge of case rates (IP, OP, CD), levels of care, and daily census activity

nManage and reconcile credit balances, including:

nSelf-pay patient balances and reimbursements

nCommercial payer credit balances

nnnThis role will be fully on-site.

nnTraining for first 2 weeks will be M-F 8-430pm.

n n**After 2 weeks this role will be Sunday-Thursday 10am-6:30pm

nSkills and Requirements

n1–2+ years of experience within a medical facility, physician’s office, or medical business office

nExperience with:

nInsurance verification

nCollections

nFinancial counseling

nHIPAA compliance

nExperience working with credit balances (self-pay and commercial payer)

nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

nHigh School Diploma or equivalent

nUp-to-date on required vaccinations (3 COVID-19 doses + annual flu shot) Experience within a behavioral health setting

nFamiliarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems

nBilingual in English and Spanish

nKnowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal
