Finishing OperatorHammond, IN 46320OverviewLevel EntryDescriptionFinishing OperatorTexas Pipe and Supply Company is a leading distributor of Carbon and Stainless Pipe, Fittings and FlangesJob SummaryThis position is primarily responsible for threading, grooving, and beveling material that meets industry standards.QualificationsAbility to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends (if needed)Ability to pass a background check and drug screenExperience in threading, grooving or beveling materialCapable of being trained on thread specification and use proper QC toolingAble to pass or fail material that does not meet industry or company standards.Stable work history, preferably in an industrial environmentReliable transportationCommitted to always working safely including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operationPositive attitude; good team playerResponsibilitiesMachine operation "groover" machineGrooving pipe for 8 hoursRuns pipe through machine – pipe is either 20' or 40' in lengthPipe is fed into machine from a nearby rackAssist other team members when time allowsAny other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or managerPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 lbs. occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objectsWork involves long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching; may also include climbing ladders and staircasesMust be able to work in extreme weather conditions – heat, cold, rain
