Finishing Operator, SewingThe Finishing Operator, Sewing is required to perform many functions within the plant, including, but not limited to, operating a variety of equipment. The main task will be operating commercial grade sewing machines. Other tasks may include moving boxes, products and supplies; operating computerized equipment; writing and filling out forms; sorting and collating products; following instructions from supervisors; and communicating effectively with other team members throughout the plant. The Finishing Operator, Sewing will be heavily involved in the printing/finishing of orders according to customer specifications (order details). This team member also maintains the Digital and Signs and Graphics production areas and equipment.General Duties and Responsibilities:(This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive)Process and produce Digital and Signs & Graphics print/finish orders as requested and/or directedOperate Digital and Signs & Graphics printers, binding and other auxiliary equipment (i.e., commercial grade sewing machine, heat press, laser cutter, etc.)Perform all phases of equipment set-up, operation and routine maintenanceMaintain equipment and supplies, to include cleaning and repairingProvide customer service, including problem solving, to satisfy those needs with a minimum amount of supervisionProduce work in accordance with LEAN manufacturing principles to enable Done Right, On Time quality resultsFollow instructions of supervisors and assist other team members in performing center functionsMaintain work area to 5S standards (i.e., clean, safe, uncluttered)All other duties as needed or requiredMinimum Qualifications and Requirements:High School diploma / GED / trade school certification or equivalent experience2+ years of work-related experience preferredDemonstrated proficiency with commercial sewing equipmentPrior experience in FedEx Office products & services offerings preferredCommercial print and production environment experience preferredGood organizational and communication skillsEssential Functions:Ability to stand during entire shift, excluding meal and rest periodsAbility to move and lift 55 poundsAbility, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist and kneesAbility to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team membersAbility, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instructionAbility, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressureAbility, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of timeAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the positionPay Transparency:Pay:Additional Details: Schedule: M-F 2pm-10:30pmQuality Driven Management strives to deliver market-leading customer experience, business excellence, and financial return through a Quality-oriented culture and day-to-day application of Quality science.
