Job Title: Fire Sprinkler DesignerJob Description
nThe Fire Sprinkler Designer designs fire protection sprinkler systems for a variety of building types, ensuring safety, code compliance, and high-quality engineering standards. This role completes engineering requests in line with sound business practices and corporate policies, reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness, and supports projects through design production and occasional site visits.
nResponsibilities
nnnDesign fire protection sprinkler systems for a range of building types, including multifamily properties, data centers, and government facilities.
n
nnComplete engineering requests in accordance with established business practices, industry standards, and corporate policies.
n
nnDevelop detailed fire sprinkler layout drawings and documentation using design software such as AutoCAD, Autosprink, Hydracad, and Revit where applicable.
n
nnReview individual drawings to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with relevant codes and project specifications.
n
nnConduct site visits as needed to verify field conditions, gather design information, and coordinate with project stakeholders.
n
nnParticipate in BIM coordination efforts to ensure fire protection designs integrate smoothly with other disciplines and building systems.
n
nnCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to clarify design requirements, resolve conflicts, and support project delivery.
n
nnMaintain organized project files, design records, and documentation to support efficient project management and quality control.
n
nnContribute to heavy design production work, meeting deadlines and supporting multiple projects as required.
n
nnApply knowledge of fire protection principles and building design to develop effective, reliable sprinkler system solutions.
n
n nEssential Skills
nnnAt least 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler design.
n
nnStrong background in fire protection design and sprinkler system layout.
n
nnProficiency in AutoCAD for fire sprinkler and fire protection design.
n
nnExperience designing sprinkler systems for building types such as multifamily, data centers, and government facilities.
n
nnKnowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and best practices relevant to sprinkler system design.
n
nnNICET Level III or higher in fire protection (required for fully remote work).
n
nnAbility to review and verify the accuracy and completeness of technical drawings.
n
nnCapability to conduct site visits and translate field conditions into effective design solutions.
n
nnExperience with BIM coordination and working within coordinated design environments.
n
nnStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage heavy design production workloads.

n nAdditional Skills & Qualifications
nnnExperience with Hydracad software is highly desirable.
n
nnExperience with Revit for fire protection and sprinkler system design is a plus.
n
nnbackground in broader building design, including multifamily, data centers, or government projects.
n
nnFamiliarity with Autosprink or similar fire protection design tools.
n
nnAbility to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in an office and remote setting.
n
nnComfort working within flexible schedules and adapting to project needs.
n
nnInterest in professional development and maintaining relevant certifications such as NICET.

nThis role is primarily based in an office setting within a laid-back, casual firm that emphasizes a comfortable and supportive atmosphere. The company is employee-owned, offering the opportunity to purchase stock and share in the organizations success. The typical schedule runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility provided as needed to accommodate project demands and personal needs. The position involves heavy design production work, utilizing tools such as AutoCAD, Autosprink, Hydracad, Revit, and BIM platforms in a collaborative environment. Work-from-home options are available as needed, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work to support productivity and work-life balance.
