nAbout the Opportunity
nConfires Fire Protection Service is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Estimator to join our growing team in South Plainfield, NJ. The Fire Sprinkler Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational fire sprinkler projects. This individual will work closely with sales, engineering, project management, and customers to develop proposals that align with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
nThe ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.
nEssential Responsibilities
nnReview construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and addenda to prepare comprehensive estimates.
nPerform quantity takeoffs for pipe, fittings, valves, hangers, seismic bracing, fire pumps, backflow preventers, and related materials.
nEstimate labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs using estimating software and historical data.
nSolicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
nPrepare detailed proposals, quotations, and bid packages.
nParticipate in bid review meetings and present estimate summaries to management.
nIdentify scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and potential project risks.
nCoordinate with design, operations, purchasing, and project management teams to ensure smooth project handoff following contract award.
nMaintain current knowledge of NFPA standards, local building codes, and industry best practices.
nDevelop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and owners.
nAttend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when necessary.
nMaintain organized estimating files and documentation.
nAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and project cost analysis as requested.
n nQualifications
nnMinimum 3-5 years of fire sprinkler estimating experience.
nStrong understanding of wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and special hazard fire sprinkler systems.
nWorking knowledge of:
nnNFPA 13
nNFPA 14
nNFPA 20
nLocal and state fire protection codes
n nExperience interpreting architectural, structural, and mechanical construction drawings.
nProficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
nExperience with ServiceTrade, or similar fire protection software is preferred.
nExcellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
nStrong written and verbal communication skills.
nAbility to prioritize multiple estimates while meeting strict deadlines.
nValid driver's license.
n nPreferred Qualifications
nnNICET Certification in Water-Based Systems (Level II or higher) preferred.
nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus.
nExperience estimating projects ranging from tenant fit-outs to large commercial and industrial installations.
nFamiliarity with design-build and negotiated projects.
