Job description
FirefighterYou will respond to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team and/or Ambulance Team.You will administer medications and solutions orally or intravenously under the direction of standing orders or of an off-site physician.You will interpret an electrocardiogram (EKG) for a patient with an unstable heartbeat to determine future medical treatment.You will provide invasive airway procedures (e.g., needle or surgical cricothyrotomy, pleural decompression, endotracheal intubation, nasal intubation).You will combat fires in difficult and dangerous environments (e.g., small passages, small compartments, confined or unventilated areas, or fuel tanks).You will enter confined spaces to perform patient care, rescue and recovery.You will extract a trapped patient to prevent further harm during removal.You will perform thorough safety and maintenance inspections on emergency transport vehicles.You will participate in daily training and instruction classes covering all phases of fire protection, fire prevention and emergency medical services.
