Job description
Boiler OperatorOperate and maintain high pressure boilers and appurtenances in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable laws. Schedule will be Monday through Friday from 11 PM to 7 am (third shift).Compensation and BenefitsPaid medical, dental and vision coveragePaid holidaysPaid vacation and sick timeRetirement plan availableDuties and ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance repair in the boiler room in a safe and efficient manner as directed by the Chief Engineer.Must be familiar with safe work practices including but not limited to, lock out tag out, confined space entry, ladder and climbing safety, hot works, etc.Repair, rebuild and replace pumpsPerform general cleaning and paintingAssist plant personnel and co-workers as neededInteract with others in a professional and ethical mannerFollow department and company proceduresKeep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this companyOther duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time our business needs evolve over time.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel RequirementsMassachusetts Fireman or Engineer LicenseHigh school diploma or equivalentZero to Six months of experienceLess than 5% travel requirementPhysical Demands/RequirementsConstantly (over 2/3):Must be able to position self to maintain equipment or perform duties in confined and/or tight spacesMust be able to move around industrial equipment in manufacturing facilityOperates and uses maintenance/mechanic tools including electrical hand toolsMust be able to detect and observe equipment in need of repair, cleaned, or painted and materials that need to be moved/removedFrequently (1/3-2/3):Utilize tools to make adjustments, repairsMove and transport material, equipment and tools up to 50-100 lbs with and without specialized lifting, moving and rigging equipmentMoves across wet/slippery and uneven surfacesAscends/descends heights while maintaining balanceOccasionally (under 1/3):Ability to move and transport material, equipment and tools up to 70 lbs. with and without specialized equipmentAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and follow directions in the process of operating equipmentAbout Baker Commodities, Inc.Baker Commodities Inc. has been in business for over 80 years.
