Job description
Fitter/WelderMeyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for Fitter/Welders to join our growing team in our Clinton, IL plant. As a Fitter/Welder at Meyer Utility Structures, you'll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You'll set up, operate and maintain welding equipment. Through the MIG welding process, you'll be responsible for welding together structural steel and other metals to build utility structure products while implementing safety protocols and procedures.Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel and concrete structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today's transmission industry standards and specifications.What You'll Do:Observe all standard safety practices and follow all safety rulesLay out and cut complex subassemblies and/or final productFit and complete final welds and/or multi-pass weldsPosition pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand toolsMaintain and complete all required recordsParticipate in safety committees and/or other initiativesComplete other duties as required including helping to train other employees as needed on new tasksWhat You'll Need:Applicable welding experience and/or successful completion of weld training and educationFlux or Metal Core welding experience highly preferredAbility to accurately measure within specified tolerances is requiredAbility to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders is requiredPrevious experience manufacturing transmission poles or related products is highly desired, but not requiredA high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goalCompensation and Benefits:Meyer Utility Structures is proud to offer competitive benefits and programs to help you and your family meet your healthcare and retirement planning needs.
