Job description
Operating since 1979, Textainer is one of the world’s largest intermodal container lessors with more than 3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in our owned and managed fleet.
We supply standard dry freight, specialized, and refrigerated containers to more than 250 global customers, including all of the world’s leading shipping lines. We also lease tank containers through our relationship with Trifleet Leasing and proudly serve as a long-standing supplier to the U.S. Military.
Our company leads the container resale industry, having secured our status as one of the largest sellers of used containers. Over 1,500 customers call upon Textainer yearly to purchase more than 140,000 units.
The Textainer team operates through a network of 13 offices and 500 depots covering all time zones. We have 165 employees in major trading centers all over the world, dedicated to providing our customers with the highest standard of equipment and service. Four regional offices form the backbone of Textainer leasing, resale, and operations activities, serving locations across the globe.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and improve policies & procedures for above areas to ensure proper internal controls while maximizing operational efficiency.
Assist with completion of annual audit, annual reports and financial statements as they relate to Fixed Assets, new addition, and finance lease activity.
Manage and coordinate all accounting functions for tank fixed assets. This includes:
Supervise recording and documentation of monthly container activity
Prepare monthly schedules for various fleets
Provide monthly and quarterly schedules for department
Provide various standard reports or special requests as requested.
Deal with all fixed asset related queries from third party investors and Textainer.
Provide support with quarterly reporting related to tank fixed assets and finance lease as necessary.
Assist Fixed Asset Senior Manager with special projects.
Primary resource for auditors on Tank fixed asset related items.
Perform any other duties on a timely basis as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Fixed asset accounting knowledge
U.S. GAAP financial statement knowledge (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, cash flows)
Requisite financial reporting system knowledge
Skills:
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills for accounting issues
Ability to think strategically
Excellent organizational skills
MS Word and Excel (must be comfortable with pivots, v-look-ups, etc)
Experience with Oracle Fusion a plus
Abilities:
Be proactive in finding ways to improve and streamline current processes
Adapt to a changing environment which includes taking on new responsibilities as processes are streamlined
Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports
Analyze and investigate fluctuations and anomalies

Minimum educational level:
BS in Accounting or equivalent experience
CPA preferred
Five years of Accounting experience
Client/server accounting system experience preferred
