Now Hiring for a Float Phlebotomist!!The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high-quality care for our patients and those of our partners.ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontamination.Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.Ensure proper labeling and follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Wear appropriate attire and attend annual department trainings.Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy expertise, especially in blood draw techniques.Experience with straight needle and butterfly needle techniques.Understanding of infant blood draws and pediatric specimen processing.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in drawing blood.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong administrative skills or attention to detail.Experience with specimen processing.Work EnvironmentThe position involves state travel and a changing work environment, providing variety for those who enjoy a change of scenery. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 7 pm, as needed, and every other Saturday or Sunday between 9 am to 5 pm, as needed. The role requires covering territories including Beacon, Newburgh, Ossining, Poughkeepsie, Peekskill, and Middletown.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ossining, NY.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
