Float Clinic AssistantPlanned Parenthood of Southern New England, one of the region's largest and most trusted providers of reproductive health care, is looking for a Float Clinic Assistant. Together, we'll take pride in shaping the future of sexual health and reproductive rights for all people.The Float Clinic Assistant is responsible for supporting clinical and administrative functions across multiple PPSNE health centers within an assigned region in a manner that ensures high-quality patient care and operational excellence. The FCA provides direct patient care, administrative support, patient education, laboratory support, and procedural assistance consistent with PPSNE protocols, policies, mission, and values. Travel within the assigned region is an essential function of this position. The Float Clinic Assistant must maintain reliable transportation and be willing and able to work at any PPSNE health center within the assigned region based on organizational needs. Assignments may vary based on staffing needs, patient volume, vacancies, leaves of absence, training initiatives, and other operational priorities.This position has a homebase of Manchester, CT but will also be responsible for floating to: Manchester, Torrington, Enfield Hartford North and West Hartford, CT.Essential FunctionsWelcome and register patients.Collect insurance, fee, and demographic information.Take vital signs, obtain patient history, perform triage, and document information in the electronic health record (EHR).Provide patient education regarding: Birth control optionsSTI testing and treatmentHIV/AIDS preventionPregnancy optionsHealthy relationshipsPerform pregnancy tests and urinalysis.Prepare and package specimens for laboratory transport.Assist clinicians during examinations and procedures.Support abortion services through patient education, procedure assistance, and recovery room support.Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.Schedule appointments and answer patient calls.Manage patient records and documentation.Handle cash receipts and daily deposits.Support revenue cycle and productivity goals.Manage inventory and ordering of medical and educational supplies.Travel regularly to assigned health centers.Adapt to different teams, workflows, and patient volumes.Cover staffing shortages, leaves, vacancies, and special projects.Provide telehealth and care coordination support when needed.Key QualificationsStrong customer service and communication skills.Ability to build trust with diverse populations.Commitment to health equity and reproductive healthcare.Strong organizational, administrative, and multitasking abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA-compliant environment).Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all centers within the designated region.Flexibility and adaptability to changing assignments.PreferredHigh school diploma.Spanish/English bilingual proficiency.Healthcare, medical assistant, clinic support, or patient service experience.Important CompetenciesCollaboration and teamworkCultural responsivenessProblem-solvingEmpathy and patient-centered careTime management and attention to detailProfessionalism in sensitive healthcare situationsIdeal CandidateThis role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys a combination of patient care, clinical support, and travel, and who is committed to reproductive healthcare, health equity, and serving diverse communities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.$24.46 - $28.13 an hour This positions hourly rate* begins at $24.46 per hour and may increase based on full years of experience. *Mileage reimbursement and cost of living differential may be offered for qualified employees *Due to our commitment to pay equity, PPSNE does not negotiate salariesPPSNE is committed to equal opportunity in all areas of its operations, including patient care and employment.
