Job description
About Quest for Justice
Quest for Justice creates new pathways to justice with LeanCourt and LeanPractice.
Our LeanCourt product builds safe, AI-powered guided interviews that help self-represented litigants prepare court forms, so that courts receive correct filings the first time. Our guided interviews are multilingual, ADA-compliant, and customized to each court’s local rules.
Our LeanPractice product gives law firms an AI-powered case management system. It automates the repetitive work of a legal practice, such as intake, document generation, deadline tracking, and case preparation. This allows attorneys to focus on key decisions and final sign-offs.
We apply Lean principles to the business and to how we build our software. Our goal is to lower the cost of legal services so that quality representation reaches people whom traditional firms price out. We build our products with practicing attorneys, not only for them.
About the Role
This role works on our LeanPractice product. LeanPractice already supports eviction practices in Arizona and Florida. Divorce is our next vertical, and it starts with the uncontested dissolution of marriage in Florida. We're looking for a Florida family law attorney to serve as our in-house expert on how a Florida divorce works.
You partner with a Platform Operator, who owns the product direction and the customer outcomes for the divorce platform. You show us how attorneys draft, where the time goes, and what a usable first draft looks like. You will work directly with our founders, product, and engineering teams to turn your legal knowledge into templates, data models, client interviews, and review rules.
Your judgment will go straight into the product. When you mark up a draft agreement, your edits become the template. When you explain how a case moves from intake to mediation to final judgment, that explanation becomes the workflow.
This is product consulting, not legal representation. You will not represent clients, give legal advice to the public, or form an attorney-client relationship through this work.
Responsibilities
Review and annotate Marital Settlement Agreements, parenting plans, and petitions, so that we can build structured templates for both simple and complex marital estates
Define the data that each document needs: parties, children, assets, debts, real property, income, alimony, and time-sharing
Map the Florida dissolution process from intake through mediation, financial disclosure, and final judgment, so that we can design the workflow in the correct order
Identify the Florida Supreme Court family law forms (12.900 series) and local court requirements that the product must support
Help design the client intake and matter interviews, and decide which questions belong before engagement and which belong after
Write realistic test cases, including hard edge cases, and judge whether AI-generated drafts are usable first drafts
Review AI output for legal accuracy against current Florida law
Meet with the product and engineering teams each week, and test new features before release
Help write plain-English content for clients and help-center guides for attorneys
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar
At least 3 years of Florida family law practice, with direct experience in dissolution of marriage cases
Experience drafting Marital Settlement Agreements and parenting plans, and handling mandatory financial disclosure and financial affidavits
Working knowledge of equitable distribution, child support guidelines, alimony, and time-sharing under Florida law
Strong written skills, and the ability to explain legal reasoning to engineers and designers who are not lawyers
Attention to detail when reviewing long documents for errors and inconsistencies
Interest in technology and AI, and the patience to test unfinished software
Preferred
Experience in a flat-fee, high-volume, or limited-scope family law practice
Experience with family law software, document automation, or legal technology products
Engagement Terms
Part-time contract, fully remote (US), with no court appearances
5 to 10 hours per week, with flexible hours and one or two scheduled working sessions each week
Hourly rate: $100 to $200, based on experience
Initial term of 3 months, with the option to extend as the divorce product grows
You keep your current practice, subject to a conflicts check
Interview Process
We want our process to be clear and respectful of your time. From application to final round, expect about 1.5 hours. All interviews will be conducted virtually.
Application (about 30 minutes). Submit your resume and answer a few short questions about your practice, your drafting experience, and how you use technology. These answers replace a phone screen.
Initial interview (30 minutes). Meet the Platform Operator who owns the divorce platform. We'll talk about your experience, your goals, and how you think.
Attorney interview (30 minutes). Meet with one of our practicing attorneys to discuss legal concepts, drafting standards, and case scenarios.
