Carpenter/Concrete CarpenterMerlo Construction is a growing self-perform commercial concrete and excavation contractor building commercial and industrial projects across Metro Detroit. We’re hiring carpenters and concrete carpenters who can lay out, build, and set formwork that holds line and grade on footings, foundations, and cast-in-place walls.Job Locations: Projects throughout Southeast and South-Central Michigan. Daily travel to jobsites is required.Schedule: Full-timeWhat You'll DoAssist with project layoutBuild and set wood and engineered form systemsEstablish and verify grade using laser levels and transitsInstall rebarOperate saws, drills, impact drivers, and other small equipmentStrip, clean, and stack formsAssist with concrete preparation, placement, and raking as neededMaintain clean, organized tools, equipment, and jobsitesMeet daily production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and workmanshipSafetySafety is the top priority on every Merlo jobOSHA 10 certification and additional safety training providedWeekly toolbox talksWork in an open "see something, say something" environment where every crew member is encouraged to speak up about safety concernsRequirementsRequired2+ years of commercial or industrial formwork experience, including walls, footings, and foundationsComfortable with project layout, basic math, and geometryValid government-issued IDReliable and punctual attendanceProfessional and respectful attitude toward every member of the crewPreferredExperience with engineered form systemsWelding and torch experienceProficiency with laser levels and transitsClass A CDLEquipment ExperiencePreferred experience operating or working with:Laser levels and transitsTorches and weldersSkid steersTelehandlers or forkliftsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to climb ladders, formwork, and scaffoldingAbility to safely work at heights exceeding 10 feet.Comfortable with extended periods of standing, bending, and physical laborWilling to travel to jobsites across Southeast and South-Central MichiganWork EnvironmentMostly outdoor work in all weather, uneven ground, amid active jobsites, loud equipment, and nearby traffic.
