Role Description
The Founding CTO at Titano will lead the end-to-end technical vision, architecture, and implementation of the company’s core product and infrastructure. This full-time, on-site role in Palo Alto, CA involves designing scalable systems, selecting and managing technology stacks, and setting engineering best practices. The Founding CTO will build and mentor an engineering team, oversee the development lifecycle from ideation to deployment, and collaborate closely with product and business leadership to align technical decisions with company goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include hands-on coding, reviewing pull requests, managing technical roadmaps, ensuring security and reliability, and establishing processes for testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The role also includes vendor and tooling evaluation, budget oversight for technology investments, and representing the technical function in investor and partner discussions when needed.
Qualifications
Strong software engineering skills, including experience designing, building, and maintaining production systems with modern programming languages and frameworks.
Proven background in system architecture and infrastructure, such as cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), databases, APIs, and scalable backend services.
Experience leading and growing technical teams, with the ability to recruit, mentor, and develop engineers in a collaborative, inclusive environment.
Demonstrated product and technical strategy skills, including translating business goals into technical roadmaps and prioritizing work for impact.
Solid understanding of security, reliability, performance optimization, and best practices for testing, monitoring, and DevOps.
Comfort working hands-on in an early-stage startup, including willingness to code, debug, document, and iterate rapidly based on feedback.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Prior experience as a technical founder, early-stage startup leader, or head of engineering is highly beneficial.
Interest in or experience with Titano’s domain and willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and market needs.
