Job description

Founding Pharmacist-in-Charge & Head of Pharmacy Operations

nLocation: Greater St. Louis / St. Charles County, Missouri

nEmployment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

nCompensation: $225,000+ Base Salary, Performance Bonus, and Equity and Profit-Sharing Opportunity

nWork directly alongside the founders to build one of the country's premier sterile compounding pharmacy organizations.

nBuild Something That Matters

nMost Pharmacist-in-Charge positions ask you to maintain an existing pharmacy.

nThis one asks you to build one.

nBrightMeds is creating a next-generation 503A sterile compounding pharmacy designed around one central belief:

nPatients deserve exceptional quality, uncompromising safety, and affordable access to important therapies.

nWe are looking for a pharmacist who wants more than another management position.

nWe are looking for a builder—someone who wants to design the systems, develop the team, establish the quality standards, and create the operational foundation of a pharmacy organization capable of serving patients nationwide.

nThis is a rare opportunity to become BrightMeds' Founding Pharmacist-in-Charge and Head of Pharmacy Operations.

nYour work will influence nearly everything we build.

nWhy BrightMeds Is Different

nBrightMeds is a founder-led healthcare company focused on making high-quality healthcare more accessible through technology, innovation, and operational excellence.

nWe are not controlled by outside institutional investors demanding short-term decisions. Our principal owners remain actively involved in the company and can make decisions based on patient care, quality, and long-term value.

nOne of our greatest strengths is our speed of implementation.

nWe make decisions quickly, execute quickly, learn quickly, and continuously improve. However, we do not confuse speed with recklessness.

nOur operating philosophy is simple:

nMove quickly. Build correctly. Continuously improve. Never compromise patient safety or quality.

nWe want this to be an environment where talented people enjoy coming to work because they are creating something meaningful with colleagues they respect.

nWhat Is Already in Place

nThis is not an idea waiting for funding.

nBrightMeds already has:

nnAn established and growing telehealth company

nExisting patient demand

nAn active physician network

nSystems supporting patient communication and pharmacy fulfillment

nTechnology, customer-support, and operational teams

nThe ability to acquire and serve additional patients

nOwnership capital committed to launching the pharmacy

nTwo experienced consultants currently supporting the project

nMultiple potential pharmacy locations under evaluation

nMultiple cleanroom companies under consideration

nA clear objective to begin serving patients as soon as the facility, team, and quality systems are ready

n nYou will join while important decisions are still being made.

nYou will help make them rather than inherit them.

nWhat You Will Build

nYou will serve as the clinical, regulatory, quality, and operational leader responsible for helping design, launch, and scale the pharmacy.

nYour responsibilities will include:

nPharmacy Launch and Leadership

nnServe as Pharmacist-in-Charge in accordance with Missouri requirements.

nHelp evaluate pharmacy locations, cleanroom partners, equipment, vendors, and facility plans.

nLead the pharmacy from development and licensing through inspection readiness and launch.

nRecruit, hire, mentor, and develop pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy personnel.

nBuild a culture centered on patient safety, accountability, integrity, speed, and continuous improvement.

nWork directly with the founders, consultants, technology team, and other company leaders.

nTake ownership of pharmacy outcomes without requiring heavy day-to-day management.

n nSterile Compounding and Quality

nnLead sterile compounding operations in accordance with USP and applicable USP requirements.

nDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures and a scalable Quality Management System.

nEstablish personnel training, qualification, and competency programs.

nOversee aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, cleaning, disinfecting, sterility assurance, and contamination-control programs.

nEstablish systems for deviations, investigations, corrective and preventive actions, change control, recalls, and continuous quality improvement.

nMaintain inspection readiness at all times.

nCreate release and quality-review standards that protect patients as the operation scales.

n nOperations and Technology

nnDesign safe, efficient, and scalable pharmacy workflows.

nDevelop production, staffing, inventory, purchasing, and capacity plans.

nEstablish quality and operational performance dashboards.

nIdentify bottlenecks and improve processes without compromising quality.

nPartner with BrightMeds' in-house technology team to develop pharmacy systems and custom software.

nHelp create technology that is faster, more useful, and more efficient than many traditional pharmacy platforms.

nBuild repeatable systems that can eventually be used across additional BrightMeds pharmacy locations.

n nRegulatory and National Expansion

nnMaintain compliance with Missouri Board of Pharmacy requirements and applicable federal requirements.

nLead preparation for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.

nMonitor regulatory changes and implement necessary operational updates.

nDevelop and execute a multi-state nonresident pharmacy licensing strategy.

nObtain additional pharmacist licenses when reasonably necessary to support company expansion.

nHelp recruit and develop pharmacists who can obtain licenses and serve as responsible pharmacy leaders in additional states or locations.

nEstablish the systems, documentation, and operating model required to serve patients across the country responsibly.

nHelp plan and launch future BrightMeds pharmacy facilities as the company expands.

n nMeaningful Decision-Making Authority

nThis is not a figurehead PIC role.

nYou will have meaningful authority and influence over:

nnPharmacy design and cleanroom operations

nQuality systems

nSterile compounding procedures

nPharmacy staffing and team development

nWorkflow and technology design

nVendor and equipment recommendations

nRegulatory readiness

nProduction ramp-up

nOperational improvement

nPatient-safety decisions

n nIf patient safety, regulatory compliance, or professional responsibility requires delaying production, rejecting a preparation, or temporarily restricting operations, you will have the founders' support.

nNo revenue goal or launch deadline will override patient safety, regulatory compliance, or your lawful professional judgment.

nThe Kind of Person Who Thrives Here

nYou will probably enjoy this role if you:

nnThink and act like an owner.

nTake responsibility without needing to be chased.

nAre exceptionally reliable.

nGet important work completed.

nMove quickly while maintaining precision.

nHold yourself to a high standard even when no one is watching.

nEnjoy complexity, regulation, and detailed systems.

nLove turning complicated processes into repeatable, scalable operations.

nAnticipate problems and solve them before they become emergencies.

nCommunicate directly, respectfully, and honestly.

nEnjoy working with ambitious people.

nBring positive energy and are enjoyable to work with.

nWant the pharmacy to be better after every week, month, and year.

n nWe are not looking for someone who thinks exactly like the founders.

nWe want someone who shares our values while complementing our strengths.

nYou should be willing to challenge us respectfully, particularly when quality, compliance, or patient safety is involved. We expect you to be more knowledgeable than the founders about pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, and pharmacy regulation.

nWe will support your leadership rather than attempt to do your job for you.

nRequired Qualifications

nnPharmD, BSPharm, or equivalent degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy

nActive, unrestricted Missouri pharmacist license, or ability to obtain one before beginning employment

nEligibility to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge in Missouri

nPrevious PIC or comparable accountable pharmacy-leadership experience

nExtensive sterile compounding experience

nStrong working knowledge of USP and applicable USP requirements

nExperience preparing for pharmacy inspections or regulatory audits

nExperience developing or operating quality systems

nStrong leadership and communication skills

nDemonstrated ability to recruit, lead, and develop high-performing teams

n nHighly Valued Experience

nnLaunching or substantially building a 503A sterile compounding pharmacy

nCleanroom planning, commissioning, or operational design

nMissouri Class H pharmacy experience

nBoard Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist certification

nMulti-state nonresident pharmacy licensing

nHolding pharmacist licenses in multiple states

nPharmacy startup experience

nQuality Management System implementation

nScaling sterile production

nProcess improvement, automation, or custom technology implementation

nFinancial planning, labor modeling, budgeting, or pharmacy P&L responsibility

nExperience helping launch multiple pharmacy locations

n nFirst-Year Priorities

nDuring your first year, you will help:

nnSelect and finalize the initial pharmacy location and cleanroom solution

nComplete licensing and inspection-readiness requirements

nEstablish the pharmacy's SOP and Quality Management System infrastructure

nRecruit and qualify the founding pharmacy team

nSelect or help develop critical technology and operating systems

nLaunch through a controlled, quality-led production ramp

nEstablish meaningful quality, staffing, production, and operational metrics

nBegin implementing the multi-state licensing road map

nBuild the foundation for additional BrightMeds pharmacy locations

nCreate an operation capable of supporting long-term national growth

n nLong-Term Opportunity

nWe believe exceptional people should share in the value they help create.

nThis position includes:

nn$225,000+ base salary

nPerformance-based annual bonus

nLong-term equity and profit-sharing opportunity

nIncreasing leadership responsibility as BrightMeds expands

nA potential path toward senior enterprise pharmacy leadership

nPotential future partnership consideration for an exceptional leader who consistently creates value and becomes integral to the company's long-term success

n nWe are hiring a long-term builder—not simply filling a position.

nOur Commitment to You

nWe do not micromanage capable leaders.

nWe will provide access to committed capital, consultants, technology resources, active patient demand, founder involvement, and rapid executive decision-making.

nWe will listen when you identify a need involving staffing, equipment, quality, compliance, or patient safety.

nWe will move quickly when the right decision is clear.

nIn return, we expect ownership, reliability, professional judgment, honest communication, and measurable results.

nLet's Build It

nYou could join an established pharmacy and maintain systems someone else designed.

nOr you could help create the pharmacy, systems, team, technology, and culture that others will eventually follow.

nIf you want to build something you will still be proud of twenty years from now, we would like to meet you.
